REVELATION 12

Israel During the Antichrist Covenant Week of Years

Rev. 12:1  And there appeared a great wonder in heaven;

            [1] a woman

[a.] clothed with the sun [Note: this entire chapter concerns itself solely with Israel (Gen. 37:9-11)], and

                                    [11.] the moon

                                                [aa.] under her feet, and

                                    [12.] upon her head

[ab.] a crown of twelve stars:

 12:2  And

[2] she being with child*

[a.] cried,

[b.] travailing in birth, and

[c.] pained to be delivered.

[*This child is not Jesus: as from Chapter 4 through the end of the Book, Revelation is a prophecy [c/p. vs. 1:3; 11:6; 19:10; 22:7, 10, 18-19]. Compare, however: Isa. 66:7  Before she travailed [before Israel's last day travail during the time of Jacob’s trouble], she brought forth; before her pain came, she was delivered of a man child [this man child is Jesus].  66:8 ..Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as Zion [Israel] travailed, she brought forth her children [the 144,000 of the whole house of Israel (verse 5; Rev. 7:1-8)].

Satan: the great red dragon

12:3  And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold

[1] a great red dragon, having

                        [a.] seven heads [c/p. Rev. 13:1; Rev. 17:3] and

                        [b.] ten horns, and

                        [c.] seven crowns

                                    [11.] upon his heads.

 12:4  And

            [2] his tail drew

[a.] the third part

[11.] of the stars of heaven [the heavenlies: fallen angels (Rev. 12:7 and Rev. 12:9; c/p. Isa. 14:13)], and

[12.] did cast them to the earth]: and

            [3] the dragon

                        [a.] stood before the woman

[11.] which was ready to be delivered, for

                                    [12.] to devour her child

[aa.] as soon as it was born [Isa. 66:7; one-third of Satan’s entire kingdom will be assigned by him to kill the 144,000 as soon as they are sealed (Rev. 7:4)].

The 144,000 of the 12 tribes of Jacob [Israel]: the manchild

 12:5  And she [Israel]

[1] brought forth a man child [from verse 2 we see that this is a future event. From the whole House of Israel, God will set apart, seal, and Anoint the 144,000 of the 12 tribes of Jacob/Israel (Rev. 7:4)],

[a.] who was to rule all nations [God’s special ruling class of the natural seed of Abraham—raptured in their natural bodies (Rev. 14:1-4)—to govern the earth along with the Church, and to repopulate the nation Israel (Isa. 4:1)]

[b.] [who was to rule them] with a rod of iron [Ps. 149:5-8; c/p. Rev. 2:26-27; Rev. 19:15]: and

[2] her child was caught up [Strong’s #726, catch away, pluck, seize (by force), raptured (1 Thes. 4:17, Matt. 11:12); Jesus in His ascension was not caught up, seized by force, or “raptured” to God’s throne (Acts. 1:2, 9, 11, 22), as Satan had been defeated and all danger for Him was past (c/p. Rev. 1:18)]

[a.] unto God [before the 7 vials of the wrath of God (Rev. 16)],

[b.] and [to] his throne [they are seen in heaven in Rev. 14:1-4].

Midweek: the remnant of Israel is hidden 3 ˝ years in the wilderness

 12:6  And the woman [Israel]

[1] fled into the wilderness, where

                        [a.] she hath a place

            [11.] prepared of God, that

[b.] they [Michael and his angels] should feed her there

            [11.] a thousand two hundred [and] threescore days [3 ˝ years; c/p. Rev. 12:14].

War in heaven: the end of the Antichrist Covenant Week of Years

 12:7  And

[1] there was war in heaven [this war happens at the conclusion of the Antichrist Covenant week and Daniel's 70th week]:

[2] Michael [the war angel over the nation Israel (Dan. 10:13, Dan. 10:21)]

                        [a.] and his angels

                                    [11.] fought

                        [aa.] against the dragon; and

[3] the dragon fought [Satan, himself] and

[a.] his angels [fought],

 12:8  And

                        [b.] prevailed not;

                        [c.] neither was their place

[11.] found any more in heaven [in the heavenlies: the earth’s atmosphere (Eph. 2:2)].

 12:9  And the great dragon

[1] was cast out [by Michael and his angels],

                        [a.] that old serpent,

                        [b.] called the Devil, and

                        [c.] [called] Satan,

                        [d.] which deceiveth

                                    [11.] the whole world:

            [2] he was cast out

                        [a.] into the earth, and

            [3] his angels were

                        [a.] cast out with him.
